WHAT IS A GUARDIANSHIP PROGRAM?

Guppy Puppies' Guardianship Program is designed to allow our precious pups to be active, cherished members of loving families while providing quality, healthy fur babies to others.  Essentially, she is a member of the guardian's family but Guppy Puppies retains ownership and breeding rights to the dog until the breeding obligations are fulfilled. As her second birthday approaches, the guardians notify Guppy Puppies of her expected heat cycle.  During that heat cycle, she goes on a "honeymoon" with a stud chosen by Guppy Puppies.  She then returns to her home to wait out her pregnancy (approximately 62-63 days) in the comfort of her home with her loving family.  When her delivery date draws near, she will stay with the Baxters (Guppy Puppies' headquarters) to deliver and care for her pups for approximately 6 to 8 weeks.  Her family is encouraged to visit often to love on both the mom and the puppies. Please note:  she will be familiar with the Baxter's home because she was born there and lived there for 8 weeks.  In addition, monthly visits will be scheduled so she will feel at home and loved in two households.

WHAT IS BOGO?

BOGO:  A female puppy will be purchased at full price with the agreement that, once the puppy is two years of age, the puppy will be bred one time at the discretion of Guppy Puppies. (Arrangements for breeding and whelping are the same as with guardianship puppies (see above).  The owner of the bitch will then get pick of the litter (or second pick if stud family opts for first choice) from their dog's litter and Guppy Puppies retains ownership of all the other puppies.  A contract is signed stating that Guppy Puppies retains ownership of the puppy until the breeding obligations are fulfilled, at which time the dog is spayed at the expense of Guppy Puppies and full ownership (with limited AKC registration - no breeding rights) is turned over to her host family.  All health maintenance requirements, including immunizations, de-worming, flea/tick prevention, etc. and all vet bills, excluding ones related to breeding and pregnancy, are the obligation of her host family.*

*With guardianship and BOGO agreements, the host family must agree to provide transportation of the dog to Guppy Puppies for visits and whelping.  (Possible arrangements will be made to meet for transfer, but no guarantees.)  If, for any reason, the terms of the contract cannot be fulfilled, the dog will be returned to Guppy Puppies, unless an alternative agreement is made between Guppy Puppies and the host family.
